A 38-year-old businessman, Nsamzimama J. Claude, popularly known as JC, has tragically died following a road accident at Samama area along the Mangochi-Monkey Bay Road.
The accident occurred around 8:00 PM when Claude, driving a Toyota Allex (registration number CK 8460) from Makawa Trading Centre towards Mangochi, collided with the rear of a stationary Scania truck (registration number NS 8190).
The truck had broken down and was parked on the nearside of the road. Preliminary investigations reveal that Claude was speeding, causing the collision.
Claude sustained severe head injuries due to the impact and was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Police in Mangochi are urging all drivers to adhere to road safety regulations and exercise caution to prevent similar incidents.
The late Claude hailed from Mwanyama Village, Traditional Authority Mapira, in Mangochi.
