In a continued effort of cementing relationship and transmiting information to community members, Lumbadzi Police Station today on Wednesday on 15 June 2022 used sporting activities as a platform of spreading crime prevention and security messages to M’balang’ombe community members.
Station Officer for Lumbadzi Police Station, Senior Superintendent Herbert Njolwa who led Lumbadzi Police Station team in conjunction with the station’s sports coordinatorA/Supt Tenson Chinguluwe called up community members to join hands with police in curbing down mob justice and sexual related offences which are on the upsurge in the area.
Station Officer Njolwa utilized the platform to preach crime prevention messages and security related tips whereby he challenged community members not to take laws in their hands but instead should report all suspects to the police.
On her part, Coordinator for Community policing branch, Inspector Jane Mkangala shared messages of farm gate prices, gender based violence, general theft just to mention but a few.
Spicing up the event, there was football and netball matches where by Lumbadzi Police Station team triumphed with 24 to 4 goals in netball and the game in football; M’balang’ombe Rangers utilized the home ground by smashing Lumbadzi Police Station football team with 6 goals to 5 after 90 minutes of field play despite of Superintendent Harry Chimombo guarding jealousy the goal post.
On behalf of other chiefs, goup village headman M’bang’ombe representing Traditional Authority M’bang’ombe hailed the station for using sporting activities in curbing down criminal activities in the area citing that it will help to attract community members to receive crime prevention and security related tips as it has been prooved that alot of people nowadays like sporting activities.
He therefore urged the station to make more sporting activities inorder to attract sports lovers to receive security tips and crime prevention messages.
