Chiefs in Kawale on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 vowed to continue fighting against crime in order to make area a no go zone for criminals.
The remarks were made when the Officer in Charge for Kawale Police Station, Mr Aubrey Kawale, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) held talks with Chiefs and at the same time unveiled the new Station Officer.
Addressing the chiefs and block leaders who attended the meeting, the Officer-in-Charge requested the grouping to value the existence of Community Policing Forums in their respective areas and appreciate its roles in order to make kawale free from heinous crime.
“We are always on the ground but the fight against crime needs cohesive approach and chief’s active involvement is paramount because Police – Community ratio in the area proves of security gaps,” said Kawale.
Kawale Station Officer, Senior Superintendent Limbani Bekete urged chiefs to take the meeting seriously and therefore revamp all dormant CPFs in their areas.
“Never sit down and watch criminals causing unrest to residents in your areas because one day you will be the victim,” said Bekete.
During the meeting, Bekete revealed that the doors to his office and that of the rest of the senior officers at Kawale Police remains open to all community members.
Speaking during the meeting, Inspector Mayeso Chikadza emphasized on the need to formulate community policing forums that will join police in providing security within Kawale .
“Security begins with you , therefore take a leading role in observing these tips that have been shared to you,” said Chikadza.
Station Executive Committee ( SEC ), Chairperson, Chiutira Subiri stated that Kawale is their home and therefore would not allow criminals to turnish the image of Kawale.
Dr Alex Chapondela, Regional Executive Chairperson (REC) concurred with Subiri’s sentiments and further urged local leaders to take action and have CPF teams instituted.
Chiefs and block leaders promised to take a leading role and ensure that the area is safe and secure from criminals.
“We promise to join the fight done by our law enforcers and see to it that we claim back the lost glory,” Said Banda.
