Police in Kawale have launched investigations to apprehend and bring to book perpetrators behind two separate incidents of mob killings at Mchitanjiru Village in Area 24.
In the first incident, a woman was on February 11,2025 killed by irate villagers over witchcraft accusations, the villagers accused Zelesi Katambala (now deceased) of killing a certain woman through magic. And the villagers descended on the old woman, assaulted her and burn her alive with petrol and motorvehicle tyres.
A similar incident of mob killing happened in the wee hours of February 12, 2024 in the same village where angry villagers assaulted to death a man yet to be identified over theft accusations.
Meanwhile, police in the area is calling for calm as investigations are underway to arrest those involved and further asked residents to desist from the acts of taking the laws into own hands.
