The Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) and Raiply Malawi held a media briefing on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Education Division Board Room in Mzuzu, unveiling details of the Raiply National Volleyball Tournament. The tournament is set to take place from November 8 to 10, 2024.
One of the event’s key highlights was the announcement by Raiply Malawi’s Administration and Human Resource Manager, Jackson Chapuma, regarding a substantial increase in sponsorship. Raiply has raised its support from K10 million to K25 million, aimed at easing the financial pressures caused by the country’s current economic climate.
Chapuma elaborated on this decision, explaining that Raiply Malawi made the increase due to rising inflation, which has impacted the cost of organizing events. This boost in funding is expected to ensure the smooth execution of the tournament and support its operational needs.
VAM President James Kaunda expressed deep appreciation for Raiply’s increased support, emphasizing that the enhanced sponsorship would cover key budgetary needs, contributing to the tournament’s success and the support of competing teams.
In addressing the players, Kaunda highlighted the importance of fair play and integrity. He urged all teams to steer clear of doping and other unethical practices, as the association will strictly enforce standards to maintain a level playing field.
The event will also see the attendance of Mrs. Bouchra Hajiji, President of the Confederation of African Volleyball, whose presence marks the tournament as a notable event on the African volleyball calendar.
The Raiply National Volleyball Tournament is anticipated to attract competitive teams and generate excitement among volleyball enthusiasts across Malawi. The increased support from Raiply Malawi reflects the event’s growing prominence and the company’s commitment to local sports development.
