Ackim Mphande aged 28, has been arrested for threatening to shoot and kill his own wife Lucy Manda over marital disputes in Dembanthuli Village in Nkhata Bay.
On December 21, 2020 Mphande staged a quarrel with his wife over marital issues then he lost his temper and left the scene and entered into his house where he came out with an antique riffle with intention to shoot his wife to death.
Sensing danger, father to the wife who was around, intervened and managed to seize the riffle which was surrendered to police.
The suspect escaped immediately.
Few days later the suspect appeared in the village and well-wishers tipped the police.
Following the tip, Mphande was arrested and formally charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm.
