Hope Foundation has donated a water supply facility comprising an elevated water storage tank, three water taps and a water pump to Mangochi Police in move to improve access to water at the station.

The facility was officially handed over by the foundation’s Director, Mussah Saidan, on Wednesday October 14, 2026 at Mangochi Police Station.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Saidan reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting initiatives that address community needs and improve people’s welfare.

“Police officers are part of us and deserve respect and honour. They sacrifice their well-being and family time to serve and protect us,” he said.

He urged the police and the community to tolerate one another and resolve differences peacefully, while encouraging officers to maintain professionalism in preserving peace and order.

Receiving the donation, Officer-in-Charge of Mangochi Police Station, Ulemu Kalua, Deputy Commissioner of Police, expressed gratitude to Hope Foundation for the donation, describing it as a valuable contribution towards improving water access at the station.

He assured the foundation that the facility would be properly maintained and used for its intended purpose.

Kalua further called upon other well-wishers to emulate the initiative by supporting the police in areas where assistance is needed to promote better service delivery.

Echoing Kalua’s sentiments, GVH Mtalimanja said the donation demonstrated that community members have an important role to play in supporting government institutions and improving service delivery.

She urged the police to take good care of the facilitility so that they remain useful for many years.

The donation adds to other contributions made by various stakeholders towards improving the welfare and working environment at Mangochi Police. In June this year, Infinity Media Group donated 50 reflective vests to the station, while in August, the Burundian and Rwandan business community renovated and furnished five washrooms at the station at a cost of K19.7 million.
