Government’s Mega Farms Program Gears Up as Markets Abroad Await Agricultural Products

The Ministry of Agriculture has officially announced the selection of 844 medium and large-scale farmers who will play a pivotal role in the government’s ambitious mega farms program. These farmers are set to embark on productive endeavors under this pioneering initiative.

Dr. Alfred Mwenifumbo, the Controller of Agriculture Extension Services at the ministry, has unveiled a significant development. He revealed that the government has successfully secured markets for key agricultural products, including Pegion peas and Rice, in countries such as China and India.

Dr. Mwenifumbo made these revelations during a conference held in Lilongwe. The conference was organized for anchor farmers affiliated with the mega farms program within the Lilongwe Agricultural Development Division. This gathering aimed to facilitate the sharing of crucial facilities that will enable these farmers to effectively engage in productive activities.
