Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has denied a bail application by Fyawupi Mwafongo, Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) Deputy Director, Chipiliro Khamula, Public Relations Officer and 14 others.
The 16 appeared in court last Friday where they were formally charged with Abuse of office and theft by Public Servant on the allowances amounting to over 4 million they pocketed at a Covid19 meeting in Mponera at Linde Motel.
According to Chirwa, the State needs more time to investigate the matter and it has been given 7 days to do that .
The 16 have since been remanded at Maula prison and have been advised to reapply for bail after the 7 days.
