Four minors have drowned in Linengwe river in Ntcheu.
The incident occurred on January 2022 at Mlambwaza village, Traditional Authority Makwangwala, Ntcheu.
The four have been identified as 10 year old Thomas Sozolinyo, Mac Sozolinyo, 7, George Zakeyu 12 and Mac Evance, 11.
According to the reporter, six children left their homes for swimming at Linengwe river. In the process, four, who are now deceased failed to swim resulting to drowning.
Upon seeing this, the remaining two ran to the village and informed their parents, who rushed to the river and tried to rescue the four.
The four were later confirmed dead by the medical personnel from Bilira Health Centre and postmortem results revealled suffocation as cause of death secondary to drowning.
Police in the district is advising parents and guardian s to jealously guard against the movements of their young ones. They should never be allowed to play in water bodies.
