The Ekwendeni Resource Netball team displayed dominance in the Katoto Supermarket Netball Tournament on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Their match against Golden Balls unfolded at the Katoto netball court.
Ekwendeni maintained superiority throughout the game, amassing 20 baskets compared to Golden Balls’ 14.
The tournament received sponsorship from Katoto supermarket, featuring a substantial prize of K5 million.
Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, the tournament sponsor, addressed the media post-inauguration. He articulated that the tournament served as a token of gratitude towards women, recognizing their pivotal role in shopping activities. Hence, they decided to reintroduce the tournament for the second iteration.
Dr. Mtumbuka further implored other corporate entities to extend sponsorship to such tournaments, underscoring netball’s significance in elevating Malawi’s stature.
