Ekwendeni Resource Netball Club defeated Sharp Queens 59-7 in the Katoto Super Market Mzuzu Netball League on Saturday. The match was played in very hot weather. Sharp Queens have now lost four games and won one against High Hoops.

Sharp Queens’ Captain, Mickness Soko, praised her team for their effort despite the loss. She mentioned that the team has to walk over 10 kilometers to get to their matches and often plays without eating, which makes them tired and affects their performance.

Captain Soko also said they use borrowed uniforms, which worries them because they don’t know the health status of the original owners. She asked for help from well-wishers to get new uniforms and shoes, believing this would improve the team’s performance.

Ekwendeni Resource’s General Secretary, Ronald Mwale, is very confident in his team. Ekwendeni Resource has won all five of their games and earned 10 points. Mwale believes no team can defeat them in the league, but the league’s vice-chairperson, Ester Teputepu, disagrees.

Health expert Alex Khombedza from Mzuzu Central Hospital warned about the dangers of wearing sweaty gear after sports. He said it could lead to contracting the Hepatitis Virus, which causes Hepatitis B Disease.
