Female law-enforcers in the policing region of East in Zomba district on February 1st 2021, donated food items to Five widows.
The donation took place at Police College where the outgoing Commissioner Arlene Baluwa led her female subordinates.
The initiative was part of charity work and each of the female officers contributed to buy the items.

Each widow received a bag of maize, six packets of sugar, 2kgs of rice, 2 litres of cooking oil, 1 carton of U-fresh soap, 5 tedrex bathing soap, toothpaste, salt and 10 packets of Soya pieces.
In her remarks, the outgoing Commissioner encouraged the widows not to despair during such trying times.
“As women we know the problems that arise when one loses a spouse, a husband is considered as a head of the family as well as the breadwinner so losing a husband is something else that’s why we thought its important to donate the items as well as to encourage you to move on with your lives for it is not the end of everything” said Baluwa.

Representing fellow widows, the wife of late Foloko George Gama Senior Assistant commissioner of Police expressed her gratitude to the network for the timely donation which she said will help solve some of the challenges they are facing in the absence of their husbands.
The Eastern Region Police women networking has been active in charity works, school outreach programs and help in the fight of child marriages and early pregnancies.
