Former Secretary to Office of the President and Cabinet, Lloyd Muhara and businessman, Leston Mulli, who are appearing before Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Court, have been granted bail.
The two are being accused of conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office in the manner in which they signed a loan repayment of K5 billion.
Details emerge that the two allegedly conspired and scheduled to repay the K5 billion loan obtained at the defunct Malawi Savings Bank for over 200 years.
The court granted the two bail and the State had no objections to the application on the condition that the accused persons abide by bail conditions.
Chief Resident Magistrate Chimwaza ordered the two to pay K500,000 cash each, one surety with non-cash amounting to K10 million, report to the police once in two weeks and surrender their travel documents.
The two were arrested yesterday by fiscal police.
