Chinese national robbed 60 million kwacha in Lilongwe, police investigates

Police in Lilongwe have launched investigations into reports of robbery at a Chinese owned company, SINO SKY Industrial Limited on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 where K60, 000, 000 (sixty million kwacha) and other valuables were stolen.

The company, which is involved in quarry production is situated at a place known as Maye, near Nathenje Trading Centre in Lilongwe.

It is said that on the day of the incident, at around 23:30 hours, unknown criminals broke into the manager’s house, Yizhong Cai, while he and other occupants were asleep.

After gaining entry into the house, it is said that the robbers took control of events and started searching for valuables starting with the manager’s bedroom.

Finally, they bumped into the said amount of cash, undentified pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition, four cell phones, and later removed Hard Drive for the CCTV machine before going away.

It is also said that during the commission of the robbery, four occupants of the house including the manager, were beaten.

Meanwhile, total value of other items stolen alongside the cash, has not yet been established.

Police in Lilongwe is advising people to avoid keeping huge sums of cash in their houses to avoid incidents like the one at hand.
