Kawale Police Station has installed Miss Funny Madalitso Chazima as its brand ambassador to support security initiatives and the construction of new police offices.
The installation ceremony was held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Kawale Police Station and was attended by police officers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Central West Region, Mrs Meclina Medi, commended Chazima for supporting Kawale Police and the surrounding communities.
Medi urged other stakeholders to continue working with the police to maintain security, while encouraging officers to serve the community diligently.
“As police, we are grateful to people like you who support us financially and ease pressure on our resources. This is a testament to the good relationship between Kawale Police and the community,” said Medi.
Kawale Police Officer in Charge, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Marco Mvukuta, thanked Medi for attending the ceremony and outlined the station’s development projects and support received from well-wishers.
Mvukuta said Chazima’s influence and connections would help strengthen relations between the police and the community and contribute to the completion of the office project. He also appealed for support in the form of building materials and other resources.
Station Public Relations Officer, Sub-Inspector Precious Mabvuto Phiri, thanked the Resilience Rising Foundation for supporting the station with reflective vests and for connecting the police with Chazima, which eventually led to her appointment as ambassador.
Accepting the role, Chazima said she agreed to become the ambassador because Kawale was her home and the community had played an important role in shaping her life.
She pledged to use her resources and connections to help address some of the challenges facing the station.
Chairperson of the Kawale Police building project, Austin Kadito, called for patriotism, integrity and proper management of funds raised for the project.
Senior Group Village Headman Chiuzira, speaking on behalf of Senior Chief Tsabango, commended Chazima for her support and urged others to emulate her.
The ceremony raised K15.5 million, with Chazima contributing K10 million, Debora Phiri K2.5 million, Austin Kadito K2 million, and Talandira Foundation and Station Executive Committee Chairperson Abel Nyasulu contributing K500,000 each.
