Irate learners at Kamalambo Primary School at Jenda in Mzimba yesterday Thursday chased away health officers who had arrived at the institution to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to pupils aged 12-above.
Jenda Hospital-In-Charge, Simione Mwale describes the incident as unfortunate; saying they had alerted the school in advance about the voluntary vaccination.
He says learners from other schools are accepting the same vaccine without any resistance.
“It’s pathetic that our workers were chased away. The vehicle has been stoned, not a good development in as far as the fight against Covid-19 pandemic is concerned,” laments Mwale.
Spokesperson for Jenda Police, Alfred Lucio says the law enforcers rushed to the scene and peace is now restored.
The school’s head teacher, Diston Nyirenda did not pick out calls when we sought his reaction on the matter.
