CHAKWERA ASSURES PEOPLE OF MLOZA OF GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says people that have been affected by Cyclone Freddy need immediate intervention.

He made the remarks at Mitawa Primary School Ground after interacting with people that are residing at the camp.

President Chakwera further said what he has seen and experienced is touching hence his government will look for the necessities such as food and medicine.

“I know we are mourning, however, what I have seen is overwhelming. People here are in dire need of assistance and as a government, we will support them in this difficult time,” said Dr Chakwera.

Traditional Authority Njema said there will be hunger in the area since crops have been washed away by the flash floods.

He said, “my people have lost their crops, please assist us,” said TA Njema.

TA Njema also appealed for more assistance to be channelled to the nine camps which at the moment are unreachable due to bad roads.

There are 16 camps under TA Njema.

So far 91 people have died in Mulanje.
