CAVB PRESIDENT JOINS THE FRAY

Preparations are in full swing for the Raiply National Volleyball Tournament, which will take place from November 8th to 10th in Mzuzu. The event is expected to draw top volleyball teams from across Malawi, competing for the coveted title in one of the country’s most anticipated sports tournaments.

James Kaunda, President of the Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM), announced that Mrs. Bouchra Hajiji, President of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), will be attending the tournament. Her visit marks a significant milestone, as it will be her first time attending a volleyball tournament in Malawi.

According to Kaunda, Mrs. Hajiji is scheduled to arrive in the country on November 7th, landing at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe. Following her arrival, she is expected to hold discussions with high-ranking government officials to strengthen support for the sport and explore opportunities for its development in Malawi.

After her meetings with government officials, Mrs. Hajiji will connect with the local volleyball committee to discuss the current state and future of the sport in Malawi. These meetings are seen as key to expanding Malawi’s role and reputation in the regional volleyball scene.

On November 10th, Mrs. Hajiji will serve as the Guest of Honor during the tournament finals, adding prestige to the event. Her presence is expected to bring increased visibility and support for volleyball in Malawi, inspiring players and fans alike.

The Raiply National Volleyball Tournament has received a sponsorship of K25 million, underscoring the event’s growing importance. With top teams competing and high-profile guests in attendance, this year’s tournament promises to be a memorable event for volleyball enthusiasts across the country.
