It is reported that the former influential financial figure, Paul Mphwiyo, has been missing for several months.
Mphwiyo, who is facing charges related to government funds and 17 other accomplices, has been absent, delaying the commencement of their trial.
The police spokesperson, Peter Kalaya, stated that the authorities are diligently investigating Mphwiyo’s whereabouts, assuring the public that updates will be provided once progress is made.
“At the moment, we, as the police, are refraining from commenting on this matter, and we will keep you informed as developments unfold,” Kalaya affirmed.
Mphwiyo is part of a group of individuals suspected of being involved in the misappropriation of Malawi’s tax revenues during the 2013-2014 fiscal years.
