Today, the 30th of December, avantmalawi managed to visit some parts of Lilongwe in readiness to the new year 2023.
As our reporter made his way through the city centre, he was amazed to notice thousands of people gathered at Golden peacock. It must be noted that these people could not speak Chichewa fluently, rather they spoke different languages, a sign that they’re visitors.
Speaking to some of the visitors they narrated to us they are in Malawi for the Cross over night that Prophet Dr Shepherd Bushiri is overseeing under the Enlightened Christian Gathering.
Unlike any other cross over, Malawi has been highly recommended as an international hub where people from all walks of lives could gather together and worship the Lord.

Bright Chimzungeni writes, “The efficacy of powers Bushiri uses to lure people, be it godly or ungodly (unbeknown to me, yours to judge) is inarguable. The mammoth of people from diverse countries that have converged in Lilongwe is noticeable in multiple ways; Golden Peacok premises and lodging services around city center are clattered with people, car parks are full, roads are loitered with foreign coaches, whichever way you turn there is some foreign language being spoken by some zealous followers of his cladded in ECG regalia.”
That we could disagree on several matters on his person or his church is undeniable, but also undeniable is the fact that the man has ridiculous level of influence. I doff my hat to that!

As Social media is flooded with Bushiri’s gesture. Nyasatimes writes “capital Lilongwe is teeming with foreigners who have occupied various hotels and Inns undoubtedly contributing to the country’s ability to raise foreign money. We may love or detest Bushiri, but given the number of religious tourists who have descended on Lilongwe for this event, it is perhaps justifiable for the government to raise him to the status of a “Pangolin,” one of the nation’s protected species.”
