Reports say, on Tuesday unknown burglars broke into Deputy Minister of Defense Jean Sendeza house at area 47 in Lilongwe before they attempted to break into Chilima’s office at capital hill in Lilongwe.
When they broke into Sendeza’s house they went way with k3 million and assorted items.
Chilima reported the issue to police for investigation, the Press officer in the office of vice President, Pilirani Phiri has confirmed that the matter has been reported to police.
The burglars wanted to enter the wing that houses the Office of the Vice President and the Principal Secretary through the waiting room.
The incidents of criminals to rob highly protected places has sent shock waves on state of security.
But police said, have already arrested one suspect following the robbery at Sendeza’s residence.
The arrested suspect is Chisomo Frackson of Malezi Village, Traditional Authority Chitekwere in Lilongwe said Lingadzi Police Station spokesperson Zgambo.
The suspect has been found with household items which were stolen during the incident.
