“BRIBERY SCANDAL UNVEILED in SRFA THUMBS UP FINALS

Five individuals accused of bribery in the match between Ntopwa FC and FOMO have presented themselves before Senior Resident Magistrate Akya Mwanyongo. The accused include Mphatso Jika, owner of Bangwe All Stars, Mary Woodworth of FOMO, Alfred Kamphathengo, the General Secretary for FOMO, Billy Sevele, known as Billy One, and Willard Banda, a key figure in Bangwe All Stars team.

The case involves allegations of bribery, Avant Publications gathers that the accused were have been found with a case to answer before Senior Resident Magistrate, where they are facing two charges each. Both charges related to corruption.

According to court documents, the accused allegedly offered a bribe of MK1.2 million to Mayamiko Kanjere (referee,) who was expected to influence the outcome of the match. The trial is set to commence on March 1, 2024.

In the game between Ntopwa and FOMO, officiated by Mwayi Msungama ended with an equalizer, with a 1-1 draw. However, FOMO demonstrated resilience in the penalty shootout, defeating Ntopwa 4-3.
