Earlier on 13th of March 2023, Blantyre City Council led by his Worship Cllr Balaba went on a tour of inspection into the City.
Following a heavy stormy Cyclone Freddy, that has rendered a number of residents dead and displaced with floods in some parts of Ndirande and Chirobwe. His worship wooed support from various sectors, like the Red Cross and non governmental organisations to move swiftly with support.
“It’s sad to note that the heavy rains which are non stop have swipped a number of homes away in our towns. Today I and my team have inspected Chirobwe, Zingwangwa and Ndirande and yes! I on behalf of Blantyre City we are shuttered to note the that the effect is a major one.” Cllr Kanonjerera.
Yesterday, Ministry of Education suspended schools in Readiness of unforeseen circumstances due to Cyclone freddy and today the Southern part of Malawi is in die need of rescue support as roads are closed and houses falling in wet conditions.
