: Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has denied bail 3 suspects who are accused of mismanaging Covid19 funds amounting to 97 million kwacha.

The three are Rashid Mtelera Administration Officer in the Office of the President and Cabinet, business man Martin Thoko Mainja and Dominic Chimaliro.

Delivering his ruling Chirwa agreed with the State that the type of the crime the 3 are being accused of, require enough time to be investigated as it deals with multiple documentation.

He therefore gave the State 9 days to conduct their investigations, saying after this period the Defense will have liberty to reapply for bail.

The accused have since been remanded to Maula prison for 9 days.
