Avant Publications has discovered that Misale Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) has produced a star in the last released Malawi School Certificate Of Education (MSCE)’s examinations results.
A 17 year old Hlengiwe Chipeta has scored 15 points, making the school to be one of the country’s best performed institutions.
When contacted, the school’s head teacher, Aaron Maisala said this has been achieved due to positive contributions from parents, students and the school staff.
He added that “the school was not performing well because communities were not contributing positively and that conduct demoralised both teachers and students. Regardless lack of electricity, shortage of qualified teachers and learning materials just to mention some.”
In the past Community Day Secondary Schools have been labelled as poor performers when it comes to MSCE examinations results.
The head teacher believes that CDSS students can do well and compete with those in conventional secondary schools if teachers aim at performing wonders.
Misale CDSS is located in Mchinji district, close to Mozambique and Zambia borders.
