LAWI TAKES MUSIC FAR BEYOND

The Afro Jazz star Lawi has been appointed as Brand ambassador for UNICAF UNIVERSITY today the 10th May of 2022.

Born Francis Phiri, he was raised in Blantyre, Malawi. During his young age he practiced music and grew playing guitar at Nkolokosa Assemblies of God Church under the leadership of Bishop Andrew Dube.

Lawi has so far worked with David Kalilani, Q Malewezi, Faith Mussa, Peter Mawanga and K.B.G just few to mention.

The Afro-soul musician Lawi who is working with Mango Band is set to release his third album on the 16th of May, 2022. Most of his award winning songs in his past albums are still selling on the market, in the name of the whistling song, Chifundo nane, Misozi and many more.

The soft spoken artist has been working in the rainbow nation, South Africa in the past years and landed in Malawi late last year.

In his thirties, Lawi has managed to win hearts of both Malawians and international music lovers.

The 1986 born artist, Lawi is an abbreviation of Nzululwazi, “custodian of wisdom” in the Ngoni language. He is a talented Afro star with a unique rhythm that displays love and shares Malawi’s cultural flavours on stage.
