TEMPERS AT MZUZU STADIUM

There was chaos on Sunday evening of July 2, 2023 after the referee blew the final whistle during the match which ended up in favour of Ekwendeni Hammers.

In reaction to the defeat, Blue Eagles Players failed to control their anger rather they went against the Referee. Tempers went ablaze as they demanded Rose Zimba and her assistants for clarity on how the game was officiated.

Our reporter witness exchanging of abusive words that resulted into a physical attack on the referee.

This scenario forced the law enforcers who were present at the venue to fire teargases in an exercise aimed at restoring tranquillity.

Avant Publications has in record that these disagreements are currently on-going matters as most teams that are participating in the current TNM Super League are fond of being unsatisfied with some officiating officials.

In modern countries Video Assistant Referee (VAR) are used mediate in times of disagreements on some decisions made by football officiators when discharging their duties such as award of; penalties, free kicks, off sides and fouls.

The Publications is therefore requesting the league organiser (SULOM)’s secretariat to introduce and install VAR in Malawian Stadiums to prevent future misunderstandings, since football is entertainment and not war.
