Silver Strike 5 to advance in FDH Cup

It took five goals to cruise past Ntaja United to excel in the Round of 32 of the FDH Cup on Thursday at Bingu National Stadium.

The Central Bankers dominated play in Ntaja United’s half at Bingu National Stadium to force Ntaja to defend

Captain of the day, Duncan Nyoni, was a marvel to watch as several times in the first half he detected play when he stitched up passes with his fellow mildifielders.

It came as no surprise that the team had two quick back to back goals.

Atusaye Nyondo broke the deadlock at 8 minutes after he received a pass from Stain Davie which originated from a good exchange of passes in the midfield.

Just a minute later Davie doubled the lead after Ntaja’s restart from conceding the goal fell on the Central Bankers feet. Nyondo never wasted time but to set up the team’s top goal scorer for an effortlessly goal.

And those goals were enough for the first 45 minutes.

Come second half head coach Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh made three changes by bringing out Nyoni, Davie and Patrick Macheso and bringing in Idana, Kaduya and Zebron Kalima.

The changes raised the intensity of the game as the hosts recorded several chances but to no avail. At 72 minutes, substitute Kaduya scored his first for Silver Strikers senior team after he connected a cross from Chinsisi Maonga. That was Maonga’s last action as he was taken out for Rodwell Robert and Mark Fodya.

Two minutes later Kaduya doubled his tally after a tap in from a good cross from Kalima. Ten minutes later Idana sealed the fifth of the day as he turned and twisted in midfield to give himself space to register his name on the score sheet.

De Jongh said he was impressed with the type of football displayed.

“We keep playing good football and today we have scored five important goals, we are happy. Cup goals are very important we expect great games ahead.” he said.
