In a thrilling match at Civo Stadium on September 2, 2023, the North East Education Division (NEED) became champions of the 2023 Girls’ Youth Football Championship with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the South East Education Division (SEED).

Jacqueline Chitulula put SEED in the lead in the 15th minute, but Mayamiko Mkandawire quickly equalized. In the 36th minute, Mkandawire’s thunderous shot secured NEED’s lead and ultimately a 2-1 win.

Coach Henry Sibale of NEED’s girls’ football team was delighted with the performance, which exceeded expectations. This victory is historic as NEED is the first team to claim the trophy, introduced this year in Lilongwe, featuring teams from Education Divisions across the country. It marks a significant milestone in NEED’s sporting history.
