Senegal (The Lions of Teranga) have reached the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations currently underway in Cameroon after beating Burkina Faso 3-1 at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
All goals came after 70 minutes of deadlock. Senegal registered on the scoreboard in the 70th minute of the match through Abdou-Lakhad Diallo who plies his professional football at Paris Saint-Germain.
A classic play from Sadio Mane in the 76th saw him chasing the ball to the byline, keeping it alive and overcoming a tackle to set up a free run into the box. He slotted the ball back for his teammates Idrissa Gueye and Bamba Dieng but it was Dieng who got the final touch and turned the ball into a second goal!
The Stallions of Burkina Faso pulled one in the 82nd minute through Blati Toure who connected Bertrand Traore drive into the box.
Mane extended Senegal’s lead in the 87th minute after beating the last man in Burkina Faso defence. The goalie, Farid, couldn’t stop the left-footer and moments later saw the ball at the back of the net making it 3-1 to Senegal.
The Lions of Teranga will play the winner between Cameroon and Egypt. The cracker is on tomorrow, 3rd February 2021.
