A local men’s rights campaigner- Watson Shawa has backed the move by a Moroccan International footballer- Achraf Hakim for having his wealth registered under his mother’s name.
In the past few days there have been reports on the social media that the 36 year old footballer’s wife- Hiba Abouk, an actress, whom he had married for about three years, filed for a divorce and demanded for half of the property he owns be shared to her.
However, it was discovered during an ongoing divorce proceedings in court that the 24 year old professional footballer, despite earning Millions of Euros with PSG, has nothing registered under his name.
To Abouk surprise, it was made known that Hakim has all of his property including- cars, clothes and houses registered in his mother’s name.
Locally, this story has attracted a lot of debate, with men- mostly, praising the move.
Meanwhile, Shawa backs the decision has set a good precedence for men to protect what is theirs, saying there have been incidents where some female-folk have ended marriages with an aim of getting an equal share of what belongs to their husbands.
“I would like to ask all the other money making professionals to learn a lesson from him. As far as I am concerned many men have been robbed of their hard earned wealth. I remember I’ve got several people, one person built four houses- the courts came in and gave three houses to the lady who was just married to him for three years. Until now I still think that was unfair to the man,” said Shawa.
Among others, the men’s rights activist has also made an observation that this should also serve as a lesson to the female-folk to start working on self empowerment and that of their families, to avoid coming up with such ideas.
In his views, Shawa stressed the need to have laws balanced for equal enjoyment between men and women.
Reports have shown that the Paris Saint-Germain defender has a net worth of $24 million- which is equivalent to 24.5 Billion Kwacha, of which 80 per cent is being controlled by his mother.
