Ekwendeni Hardnockers FC have moved to the next stage of the FDH Bank Cup after a 1-0 victory against Mhuju FC.
The game, played on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Ekwendeni Community Ground, entertained the spectators. The match started at 2:30 PM with Edson Chagala officiating.
Ekwendeni Hardnockers dominated the first half, creating most of the chances. The second half saw no goals until the 60th minute when Ekwendeni Hardnockers executed a brilliant counterattack. Musatafa Martial scored, making it 1-0.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of Ekwendeni Hardnockers FC. After the match, their coach, Mathandalizwe Kumwenda, expressed his delight with the win but noted that the team still has work to do to maintain their winning ways.
Mhuju FC’s coach, Ben Mhango, accepted the loss and mentioned that his team was not fully prepared due to late transport.
In another game on Thursday, Chintheche United FC secured their place in the next round after beating Chibavi Real Stars FC 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regular time.
