11 companies fined for unfair trade charges

The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has fined 11 companies for unfair trading practices.

Out of the 11 companies, 10 have been fined K500,000 each while one has been fined K4 million.

Apart from the fines, some companies have been ordered to pay remedies to complainants.

The unfair trading practices include selling expired goods, unconscionable conduct, selling products which do not comply with labelling standards and failure to give warranty or guarantee on some goods.

The companies include Eazy Borehole Drillers, Health and Beauty Care Pvt. Limited, Farmers World, Dairibord Malawi Limited, Be Forward Malawi and InterCape Bus Service.
