THE LILONGWE COURT THROWS OUT THE STATE OBJECTION TO GRANT STEVEN MASEYA BAIL

“`Lilongwe Magistrates Court has today Monday afternoon thrown out an objection by the State lawyer who did not want Steven Maseya to be granted bail. In his ruling chief Magistrate Patrick Chirwa told the State lawyers that bail is constitutional right of everyone and that considering that the state itself failed to charge Maseya plus they failed to complete their investigations, Maseya deserved justice.

“This court finds it necessary for the accused person to be on bail as his constitutional right plus that the state failed to charge and complete their investigations. While we all wait for their investigations, the accused person shall be granted bail by this court”, said Chirwa.

Earlier arguments showed that the state hurried to arrest Maseya before thorough investigations.

Reports indicate in a sorry, desperate and disturbed environment the state sent Area 30 police officers to search inside the house of Maseya but they failed to enter the  house because they left the house key with Maseya in Lumbadzi where they were keeping him.

In the history of State vs Citizens cases, the State has been goofing big time because of poor preparations to useless cases they handle. We have a state that is challenged in developing the country but very successful in persecuting innocent Malawians.“`
