The Mzuzu Senior Resident Magistrate Court has found former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Regional governor for the north Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira and two others with no case to answer in the alleged 2016 political violence case.
Ngwira and two others were facing charges of masterminding political violence in 2016 that were aimed at disrupting an MCP rally which the then leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera organised at Chiwavi in Mzuzu city.
In his ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Kandulu said the state has failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubts.
Earlier the case was adjourned for 20 minutes to allow state lawyers to arrive at the court since they were late.
The outspoken Reverend Mzomera is a prisoner at Mzimba prison where he is currently serving a four years jail term after he was found guilty of misappropriating local development funds when he was a member of parliament for Mzimba Hora.
