MUTHARIKA’S STEP SON TADIKILA UNDER POLICE MICROSCOPE OVER CEMENTGATE

Tadikila Mafubza, a step son to the immediate past president Peter Mutharika has been questioned by the police over his role in importation of 400 000 bags of cement worth K3.2 billion which came to the country on a duty free ticket.

Police suspect that Mafubza has a hand in the dubious deal that saw Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) loosing millions of Kwacha.

Police last year arrested Mutharika’s ex-bodyguard Norman Chisale for being suspected to have used the former president’t Tax Payers Identification Number (TPIN) during the transaction of the cement deal.

Former Director of state residences Peter Mukhitho, businessman Shafee Ahmed Chunara and former MRA deputy commissioner general Rosa Mbilizi, are also implicated in the Cementgate scandal.

Mutharika has personally distanced himself from the deal citing he has never used his TPIN.
