It has been declared by Malawi Electoral Commission that both Mandevana and Chizuzu have won, leaving the opposition party, Democratic Progressive party (DPP) in cold. Speaking to the ex secretary for DPP Grezder Jeffrey she narrated the failure as a product of disunity within their Party calling on Leadership to smell the rotten cat in the house. She advised the incumbent leader Prof Arthur Peter Munthalika to step down and allow the upcoming politicians to take over.

Former deputy speaker of Parliment Mcheka Chilenje conceded defeat, narrating that they were a lot of irregularities, however she will not challenge the results in the courts of law.

Meanwhile, Malawi Congress Party through it’s campaign Director Moses Kunkuyu has said, they are happy since they have penetrated new areas.

The election results comes in time when people outlisted Lower Shire as a strong hold of Democratic Progressive party.

The downfall of Dpp comes in as a reminder to Prof Peter Munthalika to withdraw his words as quotted “mnapita ku Nsanje ndimaona ngati mkapeza Mlango, koma mnakapeza Mia Mia. Meaning: I went to Nsanje I thought I would meet a Lion but Unfortunately I found a cat” referring to MCP as a weak party in the tripartite elections of 2019 that went nullified in the court of law
