Residents at Mponela trade centre and Dowa Boma have expressed concern with staff from Central Region Water Board schemes who have stopped supplying water to customers as a way of registering their discontentment with the coming back of officials who were suspended from CRWB.
The residents say it is unfair to punish them yet they paid water bills. They have since threatened to take unspecified action against the workers conduct if their taps remain dry.
The two officials who are alleged to have returned to work are Director of Technical Services, John Makwinda and Director of Finance and Administration, Ernest Mntawali who were fired last year for alleged incompetence where among others, the disgruntled CRWB staff allege that the two officials were not remitting pension funds to old mutual and also the staff were working without protective gear.
Meanwhile, Central Region Water Board Spokesperson, Zeferino Mitumba has asked for more time before commenting.
