Covid-19 pandemic has inflicted alot of pain on many Malawians and lives have been lost due to this deadly pandemic.
At the peak of second wave, our hospitals were overwhelmed with admissions. For those who have gone through admission to overcome the deadly virus knows very well the role played by frontline healthcare workers especially Nurses. This cadre is always there for you day and night until you are discharged from Hospital. Nurses are like angels of mercy.
Sadly, we have seen in the recent time a lot of assault cases targeting our nurses. Notable one being the case that took place at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. A nurse was beaten up by guardians simply because she questioned their presence in the ward which was against Covid-19 precautionary measures. The matter is in court and let’s hope justice prevails .
Peeps! harassing nurses won’t solve problems. It will infact complicate problems because if nurses are threatened they won’t discharge their duties smoothly which might lead to medical errors and consequently compromised service delivery.
Folks! we all need nurses to take care of our patients in hospitals.
Most probably at one point in our life we will need a nurse to take care of us. Therefore let’s support and protect our nurses when they are discharging their duties.
Let us avoid taking our emotions and disgruntled attitudes to the hospital always exercise patience, health workers have alot of work already.
