Female law-enforcers in the policing region of East in Zomba district on Friday January 29, 2021, organized a farewell party for the outgoing Commissioner Arlene Baluwa who is going to maintain the same position at Central East Region Police Headquarters in Kasungu.
The gathering took place at Police College where a total of 24 Senior and Junior female officers from Zomba,Monkey-Bay, Balaka, Machinga and Mangochi graced the day.
In her speech, the chairperson for the network Assistant Superintendent Josophine Chigawa described the posting as a big blow to the region.

“You office was open to everyone including male officers. The knowledge you’ve passed on to us has been so important in our career development, your presence inspired others to be the best version of themselves, surely you will be missed a lot” said Chigawa.
In her few remarks the outgoing Commissioner encouraged the female officers to continue carrying out their daily duties in an empathetic manner, remain the pinnacle of progress in all aspects of development by performing to the public’s expectations and never undermine themselves.
“I’m sad to depart from you but time has come for me to leave and l cannot do anything about it, continue working as a team to be successful. My successor is a male officer therefore l urge you to respect and fully support him as you have been doing with me” she said.

Secretary for the network, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi who represented all female junior officers in the region applauded the outgoing commissioner for her admirable leadership skills.
Daud said : “You are an exceptional example of women empowerment in the Region. Through your influence and leadership skills, we have been nurtured into better police women”
To spice up the occasion, the outgoing commissioner received gifts from her subordinates including a live goat.
The Eastern Region Police women networking has been active in all its four districts.
