Avantmalawi has confirmed reports, from tonight The Malawi Police Service is set to secure our respective streets and towns, making sure citizens are complying to COVID19 preventive measures.
Reports shows MPS will go around in drinking joints and entertainment centers between 2pm to 8pm. In the same way, churches will be highly supervised.
The Minister of Homeland security Richard Chimwendo Banda says the move is aimed at stemming the current surge in COVID19 infections. We are yet to speak to the Minister of Civic Education and Nation unity to clarify if people were Civic educated on the preventive measures to COVID19.
In his words, Chimwendo says government is only ensuring that the regulations by the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 which were gazetted last year are effected.
He said government noted with regret in recent times that a majority of the public had relaxed on the measures in the face of the second wave of the pandemic.
Some of the measures which are in force include mandatory wearing of face masks in public places and transport, closure of drinking joints by 8 pm and regular hand sanitization.
Chimwendo then stressed that the aim of the enforcement is not to punish Malawians but rather protect them from the pandemic, which continue to claim lives.
