The High court in Lilongwe has granted an injunction to a group of musicians restraining government from enforcing new Covid-19 restrictions.
The musicians are Lawrence Khwisa (Lulu), Skeffa Chimoto, Kelly Kambwiri (Kelly Kay) ,Ndasalampati Msanjama, Great Angels Choir and Dan Lufani.
On Tuesday, the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 among others directed that all public gatherings should not exceed 100 people henceforth.
However, in an interview with Avantmalawi, Innocent Kubwalo, lawyer representing the group said his clients feel the new restrictions are not legally binding because government flouted several procedures which must be followed when coming up with such measures.
He said the court will hear both parties on 31 December, 2020
