MUHARA HANDS HIMSELF TO THE ANTI – CORRUPTION

Avantmalawi confirms the rumors making rounds on social media that, Former secretary to President and Cabinet Lloyd Muhara has handed himself to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

ACB director Reynock Matemba has confirmed & says Muhara is being questioned in relation to abuse of office.

ACB earlier issued a warrant of arrest for Muhara. However, Muhara’s way abouts could hardly be traced until hours ago when he assured the public to hand himself to the police

Former Chief Secretary Lloyd Muhara could appear in court today, Friday 18th December 2020, to be formally charged following his arrest yesterday, Thursday.

Muhara surrendered himself to the Anti-Corruption Bureau – ACB in response to a warrant of arrest for his alleged involvement in a fraudulent land purchase deal.
Earlier, the ACB netted former cabinet members Symon Vuwa Kaunda and Charles Mchacha as well as Defence Ministry PS Bright Kumwembe over the same case involving the sale of Kanjedza Forest Reserve.
The matter came to light in February through a complaint to the ACB alleging that the Department of Lands had unprocedurally leased forest reserve land to Mchacha.
