The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has launched a jersey design competition for the Malawi Women’s National Football Team, the Scorchers, ahead of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

In a notice, FAM says the competition is open to Malawian citizens aged 18 to 35 and seeks designs that reflect Malawi’s culture, national pride and women’s football.

According to FAM, participants will be required to submit three kit designs, with red as the primary colour for the home jersey, green for the away jersey and black for the alternative kit. All designs must incorporate the colours of the national flag and meet FAM’s branding requirements.

The jerseys should also feature limited-edition elements celebrating women’s football, including the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), while maintaining a modern look.

FAM says the winning designer will receive K3 million and must transfer the copyright and intellectual property rights of the selected design to the association.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 6 November 2026. Each participant is allowed one entry, accompanied by an explanation of the design and its significance to the Scorchers.
