Super League of Malawi (SULOM) President Brigadier General Gilbert Mittawa has endorsed Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya for another term ahead of next year’s elections.
Mittawa said Haiya has made significant progress in developing football despite having served for a short period at the helm of FAM.
He described Haiya’s leadership as a positive step towards the continued growth of the game, saying the achievements recorded so far influenced his decision to support the re-election bid.
However, Mittawa clarified that his endorsement is a personal view and does not represent SULOM’s official position, which will be announced later.
He becomes the latest football leader to back Haiya, following similar endorsements from several regional football bodies.
The Eastern Region Football Association, Southern Region Football Association, Northern Region Football Association, Central Region Football Association, and Beach Soccer Association have all endorsed Haiya ahead of the FAM elections.
