NORTHERN REGION TEAMS AIM FOR NICO TOP 12 GLORY

The countdown is on for the NICO Top 12 Netball Cup national championship, which takes center stage this weekend in Lilongwe. The tournament promises intense clashes as teams from across Malawi battle for national supremacy.

Northern Region teams are determined to make their mark and bring the trophy home. Coaches have expressed confidence that their squads are prepared and eager to compete at the highest level.

Mzimba Queens head coach, Patricia Vandekha Chunga, told Avant Publications that her team has completed preparations and is ready to perform. “Our players are well-drilled, motivated, and determined to fight for glory at the finals,” she said.

Resource Netball Team coach, Anthony James, echoed similar sentiments, stressing that his squad is not just heading to Lilongwe to participate but to challenge for the ultimate prize.

Moyale Sisters’ coach, Thews Kasanga, confirmed his players are regrouping ahead of the competition. Although he admitted injuries have disrupted his camp, he insisted the team remains focused and prepared for the national stage.

The NICO Top 12 Netball Cup will run from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute in Lilongwe. Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to witness some of the country’s best netball talent in action.

With 12 teams drawn from all regions, the competition is one of Malawi’s most prestigious netball events. Northern Region sides are hungry to finally clinch the title, making the stage set for a weekend full of high-stakes action.
