Police in Kawale through its Traffic department has put in it’s custody 4 motorists including a Kabaza operator who were found driving motor vehicles/ cycle whilst drunk during the night of February 1-2, 2025.
The Station Traffic Officers organized an operation within road network of it’s policing area as one way of taming road accidents due to reckless driving influenced by alcohol and use of un road worthy motor vehicles during the night taking advantage of police absence which poses a significant risk to themselves and other road users.
John Laban Phiri was booked in traffic records on Reckless and Negligent driving after his involvement in a minor road accident at Chipiku in Area 23, influenced by alcohol consumption as evidenced by breathalyzer test results.
During the operation traffic officers patronized Biwi, Marshall, Chizanja ,Mchesi , M1 road and Area 23.
Besides the four drunk drivers, the station traffic team also booked some motorist with other road traffic offences like suggesting use of violence, operating without valid permits and further impounded a Toyota Corolla that was dumped by the owner after noticing a traffic check point at Share world in Mchesi.
Police in Kawale would like to advise all road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations whenever using public roads
