Prominent Malawian preacher Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has publicly criticized the South African media, accusing them of ignoring his record-breaking events at FNB Stadium while praising international artists like Chris Brown.
In a recent social media post, Bushiri highlighted the stark contrast in media coverage between his annual Crossover Night prayers and Chris Brown’s recent concert at the same venue. Bushiri revealed that his religious gatherings consistently drew 110,000 attendees for four consecutive years, surpassing the 94,000 fans who attended the singer’s performance.
Despite FNB Stadium’s management publicly confirming the attendance figures for his events, Bushiri claimed the South African media remained silent on his accomplishments. Meanwhile, Chris Brown was widely celebrated, with the media calling him “the biggest crowd-puller.” Bushiri criticized this bias, alleging that gospel events and religious leaders are often dismissed, while secular figures are glorified.
