Karonga United FC has chosen Rumphi Stadium as their new home ground. The club’s General Secretary, Ramzy Simwaka, told Avant Publications that after playing three matches there, the team collected 7 points, which he called an impressive performance.
“We are working with different partners to ensure we can use Karonga Stadium again in the future. For now, Rumphi Stadium will be our home,” said Simwaka.
Alice Mwakhwawa, a loyal Karonga United supporter, praised this decision, saying it offers a chance to clean up the team’s image after some fans caused trouble at Karonga Stadium, damaging the club’s reputation.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) banned Karonga United from using Karonga Stadium for three matches after crowd violence during their FDH Bank Cup game against Mzuzu City Hammers FC.
Karonga United FC is currently 8th in the TNM Super League with 29 points from 21 games. They will play Chitipa United FC at Rumphi Stadium on Saturday, 28th September 2024.
